The girl quietly slipped out of the house, shutting the door with a quiet creak. She looked innocent, with a charming smile and a plain book bag. Taking out some earbuds, she put them in her ears, nodded, looking thoughtful. Then, she took out her phone and sent a message to several people, looking pleased as she did so. 
After glancing behind her, she started off for a place that was most definitely not the library. 
Walking briskly down several streets, she arrived at a large, intimidating building. She wasted no time in knocking three quick times, then pausing, then knocking twice slowly. 
"Password?" An unidentifiable voice asked, though only the girl seemed to hear it.
"Revolutionary," she replied without hesitation. The door swung open, then closed loudly behind her.
"Welcome, Cel," said the same voice.
"Activate 'Meeting' mode," she replied.
"Mode activated."
"End of orders."

Brief Summary: 
During a time when the internet and communication on electronic devices are censored and read by the government "for the general public's safety," a group of bizarre teenagers band together to create the revolutionary group of the Songbirds. Some are hackers, others are genius inventors, and some others are spies. What started out as a mere idea quickly grew into a insurrection. With just a spark, a flame grew and devoured the Songbirds, dedicating them to a cause so much bigger than it seemed.

Background Info about the Songbirds and Time Period:
This is set somewhere in the future in a fictional town called Min (somewhere in Asia…), where technology is moderately more advanced than ours. However, since several Songbirds are inventors, they have access to self-invented forms of technology, such as computers with programs that can do functions such as (but not limited to) thinking independently and serving as highly accurate lie detectors, and the such, buildings that have feature-recognizing programs that can successfully react to meeting an intruder or ally, and machines that can pass off as humans. The Songbirds recognize no true leader, but instead, they see everyone as equals (well, they try to). Most of the Songbirds use nicknames or code names instead of their real names, though some people know each other due to recommendation. This is partially because if they are ever in trouble, they genuinely do not know the real names of their fellow members. Initiation into the Songbirds is extremely difficult, due to the possibility that infiltrators will attempt to bring them down from the inside. The two ways to become a member of the Songbirds are 1) already having a very good reputation as someone who works in the same interest as the Songbirds, or 2) getting recommended. The founder of the Songbirds is Cel (Celine Prestine). Their major enemy are the Hounds, who work for the government. (They're full of talented people too). ((May add on to this later))
Most activities are forbidden, such as riding an ordinary bike, driving, reading certain books, and sewing. Transportation mostly consists of self-driving cars. Machines sew clothes. The only bikes are quite rare and have a sensor that helps the biker keep out of danger.

NOTE: The members of the Songbirds do go to school and do ordinary activities; they just lead a weird second life.
SECOND NOTE: In the beginning, the reason why Cel put in her earbuds were because in order to hear the voice inside their headquarters, the members of the Songbirds use a special kind of earbud (all the better for security). They can also use the earbuds to communicate when they are separated on missions.
THIRD NOTE: Certain members of the Songbirds are "well-connected," which helps sponsor their group. However, usually this money comes without the sponsor being aware that their money is going to a group like the Songbirds.

History: It started off so innocently. Four-year old Cel was playing with crayons when her love for art began. She then began to doodle all the time, up to the point that her parents were quite concerned about her well-being. However, when she was still young, after she had finished a picture of a girl reaching for a dove, her teacher had thrown the drawing into the trash. Cel was outraged and demanded to know why, with her teacher refusing to give answers. She immediately attempted to search it up on the Internet- only to learn that it was blocked. Up until then, Cel's obsession with art had kept her oblivious of the current political issues, with the image of the dove being associated with a group that was working against the government. She had suddenly woke up to this harsh reality. It was then that she began forming the Songbirds, after realizing that the government was unfair. At first, it was only her and the few friends she had, eventually, it became a revolution. Her parents remained oblivious to this and are only glad that she has stopped her obsession with art and now interacts with others.
Personality: Cel is a passionate person, arguably the most passionate person in the Songbirds. Once she learns of something that is wrong, she immediately attempts to correct it. This often gets her into loads of trouble, in which she is not ashamed of her actions. She is headstrong and stubborn, often admitting that she has done something wrong. When angered, she will threaten the person who has offended or hurt her. She finds it hard to forgive someone, though she sometimes does. Otherwise, Cel is normally a kind-hearted and likable girl. She will not hesitate to hand out punishments to others who she thinks deserve them.
Strengths/Talents: Cel loves what she does. It motivates her and makes her happy. She is also a person who is decisive and quick, not wasting time over decision-making. She is also (of course) a wonderful artist, though most people are unable to understand the abstract meaning behind the drawing/painting.
Fears/Weaknesses: Cel hates admitting what she did wrong. She also despises corruption, greed, and selfishness and will go and publicly denounce people who seem to be corrupted, greedy, or selfish. Her feelings towards others sometimes blinds her better judgement.

Other: Cel has a red cat (named Ria) that she sometimes brings to the Songbird headquarters; there is a joke about her cat being the Songbirds' mascot.

History: Marcus was born in the U.S.A, his father born and raised there, his mother a recent immigrant from Min. When Marcus was just shy of five, his father passed on, leaving his mother with no job and nowhere to turn but her family back in her homeland. Looking back, Marcus never really had a chance to be a true American, but the freedom and excitement of that life stayed with him as he moved closer to adulthood. A few years ago he really began to see life in an entirely different light. He saw people being watched, studied, cut off from life outside through censorship and lies. That, however, was only the way of things for people that let themselves be forced to live by those rules. Marcus began free-running with a bunch of guys from his school not long after that. They made themselves a public nuisance, breaking into homes, schools, and office buildings, and always getting out in the nick of time, and no one ever caught on to who it was. Marcus thrived on that thrill, the edge of the knife, the constant fear of being caught. This was the way he would prove to this grey, dull, suppressed country what life could be like. His friends eventually all quit the game, fearing one day they'd step too far outside the lines, that they'd be risking their families. Marcus never cared, and eventually, this led him from 'playing' spy to becoming a real one. The biggest heist of his life, the one that landed him in the Song Birds, was the most fun he'd ever had before in his life. The building was a military building, big, brown, and lifeless. Under the cover of night, he broke in, and stole a little flash drive as proof. They sent out car after car to find him, but after all this time, he was good at covering his tracks. Or so he thought. One day, an E-mail popped up on his home system. The cover of it was simply a dove. He smiled. He was done playing spy, now, he could be a real one.

Personality: Oozing with charm and self-confidence, Marcus is a charismatic young man who's in love with the danger of life as a Songbird and the thrill of running, hiding, and lying. Hot headed and a bit arrogant, he can be fairly hard to get along with. He has a dry, sarcastic wit and loves poking fun at people. He's also a hopeless flirt, which doesn't help matters. However, although he sees the Birds as little more than a game, he's fiercely loyal to his team, and with such a crucial role on his shoulders, he understands that he has a responsibility. 

Strengths/Talents (please do not include an infinite list): A master at sneaking, and hiding in plain sight. His favorite kinds of heists are the kind he can be right in the open and still not get noticed. Experienced free-runner. An expert liar. Also is good at darts, and dabbles in poetry on the side.

Fears/Weaknesses: He fews this a little more than a game, and thus, sometimes fails to take his job seriously. He also has a tendency to be rather showy when he gets the chance, which may sometimes ruin a perfectly well thought-out heist. Whenever he stops to think about death, it freezes him to the core, but usually he runs like he's invincible. 

Other: Wears a watch his father gave him, but more of a fashion statement than a memento.

History: Aislin's brother, who works for the government, taught her how to hack ever since she knew how to use a keyboard and mouse. Her family gives her expensive things such as laptops and phones. One day, her parents went missing. Even after a year, they still weren’t found. She currently lives with her brother. Her family wants her to work for the government, like many members were. But Aislin thinks the government is unfair and corrupt. Aislin, or Binari, creates the Songbirds with Cel. She hates how the government censors things, and reads everything. Even though she wants the government to be more fair, she is still afraid. Once, she almost got expelled from school because she hacked their website. After that, her family was disappointed in her. Ever since then, she was afraid of getting in trouble. When hearing a siren, she will often panic, even if she didn’t hack anything lately. She doesn’t sleep much at all, so she drinks lots of coffee.
Personality: She says quiet at school, some of her classmates and teachers thinks she’s mute. However, she talks a lot with the other Songbirds. Her family doesn’t think she has a life outside of school and the computer. She dislikes her family, but acts nice around them to not get in trouble. She cares about her friends a lot, and would do anything for them. She acts hyper when drinking coffee.
Strengths/Talents: Can type quickly. Memorizes things easily that aren't school-related. Can lie very well. Runs quickly. Can look through any government papers her brother has.
Fears/Weaknesses: She doesn't get much sleep at all. Because of this, she often drinks a lot of coffee. She's afraid of the police and will panic when she hears any sirens. She lives with her brother, who always asks what she’s doing and where she’s going.
Other: Always keeps her hood up. The camera on her laptop is always covered with duct tape and the microphone was taken out of it.

History: Allen was an ordinary boy living an ordinary life. That was until he discovered science. Fascinated, he tried to delve further, but learned that "such harmful information" was blocked. The supposed reason was that it could hurt him if he use the information in his life. He then turned to his other favorite subject, English, and temporarily forgot about science, though it lingered on his mind. When he heard of Edgar Allen Poe, he was immediately interested and attempted to find out more. Then, he learned that all of Edgar Allen Poe's works were banned. After turning to many resources, he changed to different poets and authors, though he was dissatisfied with what he found. All the literature he could read was uninteresting to him. He found out about the Songbirds through one of his friends. He then went through the Songbirds initiation process. During his initiation, he attempted a daring act- anonymously giving the leader of China a perfume bottle, which the leader considered harmless. He gave the bottle to his wife, who opened it and immediately became insane (temporarily, of course). The perfume bottle contained a chemical, which made the brain release chemicals that made whoever smelled the chemical go temporarily insane. Allen was then accepted immediately into the Songbirds. He has a sister named Clarissa who is quite close to him, but he is able to lie to her about the Songbirds.
Personality: Allen is a ordinarily quiet, reclusive, and easily irritated person. However, when with the Songbirds, he is kinder and more amiable. He clearly prefers the company of the Songbirds to anyone else. Everyone (but the Songbirds and his sister) sees him as an intelligent and adorable, but grouchy child. He is often exasperated by the fact that everyone thinks that he is young and therefore, easily influenced. It isn't hard for him to feel embarrassed, often turning shades of crimson in mundane situations. Allen takes to certain people easily, while he dislikes others for a long time for no reason. He lies easily to most people, except for the Songbirds, because he feels bad for lying to them. He usually lets others go before him, despite his easily-irritated nature.
Strengths/Talents: Allen is (obviously) good at science, though he loves chemistry the most. He also can recite lines from poetry from memory (though this isn't always helpful). His ability to lie to everyone (but the Songbirds) is often useful. Allen never wastes time and often plans out his day in advance, making him quite organized.
Fears/Weaknesses: Allen will never ever betray the Songbirds. His loyalty is quite extreme. He is also terrified of spiders, having once had a dream about spiders crawling onto him. He dislikes being thought of as "adorable" or "just a kid," which leads to him acting quite stupidly at times.

Other: Allen will sometimes come out of an experiment dirty and bewildered, but absolutely excited.

Cel walked into the meeting room, quivering with excitement. Taking her place at the long table that was centered in the middle of the room, she yawned, though the excitement lingered in her mind. As usual, the room was neat and clean, smelling of hot chocolate as a result of the previous night, when Cel had accidentally spilled her cup of hot chocolate all over the floor. As Cel took her silver laptop out of her book bag and opened it, she took out her phone as well, glancing at the text message she had sent to all of the Songbirds: "A meeting is starting in ten minutes. Don't. Be. Late." Her messages weren't usually so rude, but again, this was important. Humming the tune of one of her favorite songs (which, of course, was censored), she waited for the others. She cringed when she remembered that the next day was Monday, which, of course, was a school day. Cel groaned, then pushed the thought from her mind.

Wash landed on the next rooftop and kept on running, leaping between buildings as quickly and quietly as he could. He loved the freedom, the rush of air, the life or death moment when it feels like you might not make it. These days he felt a little less free, courtesy of a mask he chose to wear not to protect himself but his fellow Song Birds if he was spotted, but it was still glorious. As he stopped to catch a breath, a sharp noise and a buzz came from his phone. 

"A meeting is starting in ten minutes. Don't. Be. Late."

"Oho, punctuated for emphasis. She's super serious." He smirked, starting to run in the direction of the headquarters. Despite the fact that the message was a bit humorous to him, it really got him thinking. Cel never was the type to call spur of the moment meetings, nor the kind to send blunt texts. Something was brewing. "This is going to be great, I can already tell."

He shimmed down a building near the headquarters, then walked up to the door. He stripped off his mask, inserted his headphones, and knocked on the door in the special combination.

"Password?" 

"Revolutionary."

"Welcome, Wash."

"Thanks kindly." he said as he walked through the door and into the base. He thought about spending some time eating or goofing around, but decided against it. He headed straight for the meeting room, and took a seat at the chair nearest to the door. He was apparently the first to arrive.

"Yo, Cel? What's happening?" He waved with a smile.

Binari was in a coffee shop, with two large coffee cups in hand. She sat down at a table, sipping one of the drinks. 'I think I'm gonna take a break from hacking, for once.' she thought, taking another sip. The girl looked out the window, 'It's kinda nice out today, maybe I could go outside?' Surprising her, her phone vibrated in her pocket. Taking out her phone, she read the text, "A meeting is starting in ten minutes. Don't. Be. Late."

With all the punctuation, Binari guessed that the meeting is super important. "So much for a break..." The girl grumbled to herself. She put her laptop bag over her shoulder and her phone back in her pocket. Grabbing the two coffee cups, she raced out the door. 'I should have rode my bike here today..." she thought. While running, she put the special earbuds into her ears.

Finally reaching the door, she knocked in a certain pattern.

"Password?"

"Revolutionary." the girl whispered to the door.

"Welcome, Binari."

"And hello to you, talking door." Binari said. She walked to the meeting room and sat down in a chair. "Hey." she spoke, and then took another sip from her coffee. "What's the meeting gonna be about today?" she asked.

"A meeting is starting in ten minutes. Don't. Be. Late." Eren jumped as his phone buzzed in his pocket, his pencil dropping from his hand. He had been working on homework, but it looked like it would have to wait. Quickly, the teen stuffed his books in his book bag, chewing on his pencil while he worked. What could this be about? Cel wasn't usually so pushy. He shrugged to himself and poked his head into his mom's office, where she was reading a book on how wonderful the government was. He felt bad that he was keeping information from her, but hopefully they would be able to disclose it to the public soon. "Mom, I'm going to go study with my friends again," he said, holding up his bag. His mom nodded absently and turned back to her book, saying, "Be home for dinner." Eren went outside and locked the door, slipping in his earbuds and maneuvering through the maze of sidewalks and buildings to the headquarters, where he followed standard procedure.

"Password?" the door asked.

"Revolutionary." Eren responded, smiling to himself. He liked the idea of a talking door, even if it was just a program.

"Welcome, Eren." the voice buzzed, and Eren heard the click of the lock sliding back.

The teen tipped an invisible hat and pushed the door open, heading immediately to the meeting room. Binari and Wash were already seated and, of course, so was Cel. He sat down in his standard chair and greeted the others, placing his bag under the table and out of the way.

Light twirled some small gears in his hands, his mind working out another invention. He looked up at the ceiling of his room, his mind starting to work at a fast pace. 'If this gear goes here, and then I tighten that bolt up there. Maybe even add a small piece of canvas over the wing frame, to catch the air yes yes!' He let out a laugh of victory. Already starting to work on it as his phone buzzed. 
  He groaned slightly, more out of having to stop working than not wanting to go. He stood, reading the message carefully. "A meeting is starting in ten minutes. Don't. Be. Late." He blinked, it must be important then yes?
 
 He hid his new toy under the floorboards, standing up and walking out of his room, rushing down the stairs and informing his parents he was going to the library for some research. They just nodded and said a coarse "Have fun," Before he walked out the door. 

 'Important meeting is important,' Light thought, walking up to the door and knocking in the pattern. 
  
 "Password?"
 
 "Revolutionary,"

 "Welcome, Light," the door opened. 

 Light nodded, walking in briskly and making his way to the meeting room. Nodding at Binari and Wash. He sighed. "This better be pretty important, I was right in the middle of a new invention, a little spy bird. It's gunna be SICK!"

  Mey-rin tilted her head as her phone buzzed, looking up from her science textbook. "Ohh~ A meeting!" She almost exclaimed, before quieting it down to a whisper. 'It must be pretty important,' she thought, collecting her books and walking out of the library. Waving goodbye to the librarian, whom she was good friends with. She put her headphones on, specifically for the purpose of listening to some pirated NoriPy songs. She had to suppress the urge to sing as loud as possible, and also to not dance to the headquarters. 
 
 She hummed under her breath, knocking on the door quickly and swaying her hips. 

"Password?"

"Revolutionary~" She sang, the door paused for a momment.

"Sorry, I could not understand, can you repeat?" 

Mey-rin rolled her eyes, "Revolutionary," she repeated, trying to say it without her thick french accent getting in the way. She always had to repeat it once or twice for some reason or another. 

"Welcome, Mey-rin," It said, the door opening. 

"Thank you defective talking door," She answered, muttering something in french as she walked briskly to the meeting room. Sitting down next to Binari. "Bonjour mon ami's! Ca và?" She asked.

Sere looked between the two apples held in her hands, trying to decide which one looked tastier than the other. She was leaning towards the one on the right, but she wasn't sure why. They looked unusually similar to each other and perhaps it would be easier to decide between two other apples any- 

Her phone suddenly gave a buzz, startling her enough to almost drop the apples. She moved the right apple over to her other arm, holding them both to her chest. With her now empty right hand she reached into her pocket, pulling out her phone and opening the new text. "A meeting is starting in ten minutes. Don't. Be. Late."

She set the apples down and apologized to the owner of the fruit stand before turning and heading in the direction of the headquarters, opening her phone and calling her mother to let her know she'd be home late.

"Have fun sweetie!"

With her mother dealt with, Sere picked up her pace, holding the groceries she had purchased to her chest, as she neared the headquarters she put her headphones in, relaxing violin coming forth with the click of a button. She hummed along with it as she neared the door and stopped before it, rapping her knuckles on it in the expected pattern.

"Password?" A voice came forth.
 
"Revolutionary," She whispered back, glancing furtively from left to right.

"Welcome, Sere." Sere hustled in quickly, the door swinging closed behind her as she quickly walked to the meeting room, setting her groceries down in a corner. She gave a friendly nod and smile to everyone who had arrived before her, and checked the time on her phone, 1 minute left. Blushing in embarrassment at almost being late again she took a seat next to Cel.

"Good job," Cel commented to the five others who were there, glancing at the clock. "Pretty well done. Okay, well, let's wait for the others. I'll tell you what this is about." She couldn't hold back a grin as she thought of the information she was going to tell them.

Binari put her feet up on the table and leaned back in her chair. She finished her first cup of coffee, and is now on her second one. "Is it good news? You're smiling." she told Cel. She took her laptop out of the bag, and placed the bag on the table. The girl turned her laptop on, keeping it on her lap.

Allen felt his phone buzz, startling him. The vial he was holding nearly dropped on the floor, but he retained his grip. Glancing at the message, he put a cap on the vial, set it down with the others, packed it away into his closet, and left the room. He forgot to take his goggles off his head, as well as change out of his lab coat, but most people assumed that he was just dressed up in a costume for some bizarre reason. This better be important. It's messing up my whole schedule. When he arrived, he hastily put his earbuds in his ears, knocked the usual five knocks that would open the door, and replied correctly to the door. After this, he ignored the door's welcome, hurried in to the meeting room, and opened the door. "Sorry, am I late?" He prided himself on always being on time, but this was quite unexpected.

"Just hurry up and sit down," Cel told Allen, who immediately took his seat. "Well, there's something important that I must tell you. Some complete idiot from the government was apparently trying to hack into this place." Cel sighed. "Fortunately, he didn't make it in without the earbuds. The door refused to let it in, so he apparently tried to blow it up. As you can see, the door is fine, and that guy has obviously not succeeded."

Eren's eyes widened and he leaned forward in his chair. "Wait. Did the guy get blown up instead or something?" He could imagine the blood, but that would have left stains. Obviously he hadn't, or they had been cleaned up very well . . . "They won't try again, will they? I mean, a door that won't open or be blown open is pretty suspicious. They could blow a hole in the roof or something."

Sere raised her hand timidly and waited until Cel's eyes fell on her, "Um... when did this happen? And, if it was someone from the government, wouldn't they be pretty suspicious of this place now... and been keeping an eye on it?" She fidgeted nervously, worried that her question was stupid.

Can't run a proper revolutionary cause here," She grumbled, sighing and twirling her hair. She blinked as the others spoke. Sighing. "I hope they leave us alone, you don't go and try to blow doors open. Its very rude,"

 Light rolled his eyes, "Does the door need repairs? I'm glad it stood up to the explosion... But..." He paused, "Did he know the code too?" Light asked, tapping his foot nervously. "I suggest we change the password and the knock sequence, and maybe even move hideouts. It could be dangeous here now,"

Cel sighed again. "The door's fine. Apparently, and I don't even know how someone in the government could've been so stupid, he didn't want to tell anybody about this place because he wanted to take all the glory for himself and surprise everybody. The guy's also fine- if you call major disappointment and stupidity fine. He's in the basement, if anyone's curious. He's not talking anymore, but the security cameras got the whole encounter. I found some papers in his pocket, as well as his ID. It shows that he's a pretty low-ranking member of the Hounds. The papers are about a top-secret government plan, but I can't understand anything on there; it's gibberish. When I came this morning, I was going to call all of you, but I decided against it. There might have been more government people watching this base. I left, and after using the cameras to carefully examine the place, I called all of you."
